Open-Cavity Design

Open-cavity rim profile eliminates unnecessary weight while also reducing radial stiffness to create a smoother ride. Open-cavity rims are the top choice of drop bar and XC riders wanting to minimize weight while also improving rim compliance for less overall body fatigue at the end of a long day.

Dependable 6069 Alloy

Many years of rim development and success have confirmed 6069 to be the perfect aluminum alloy blend for both drop bar and mountain bike rims. Our extensive testing shows other 6000-series alloy to be less ding-resistant, while stiffer 7000-series alloys result in a harsher ride feel and tend to increase pinch flats.

4D Angled Spoke Holes

Drilling spoke holes at an angle eliminates binding and lateral loading of the spoke and nipple interface. It also allows spoke tension to be more evenly dispersed on the nipple rather than loading one side more than the other. Allowing the spoke to depart the rim at a natural angle increases the longterm durability of both the spoke and nipple.

TCS Solid Strip

Durable nylon strip that lies between the rim and tubeless tape to prevent tubeless tape from pushing into the spoke holes and ensures a smooth interface between the tire and rim. The smooth surface makes it easier to mount a tire by preventing air from escaping around the bead at each indent during inflation. Solid Strip also protects the airtight system from puncture in the case of a broken spoke.

21mm inner rim width

Road and commuter bikes with narrow tires of 30mm or less are best paired with a 21mm inner rim width. KOM Light rims are also best suited for this usage because of their balance of lightweight performance and proven dependability. Choosing wider rims for use with tires narrower than 30mm will provide unnecessary exposure to the sidewall of the tire.

PRODUCT TECHNOLOGY

TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) is our industry-leading tubeless rim/tire system designed to international ETRTO and ISO standards.

6069 is the perfect aluminum alloy for bicycle rims due to its high tensile and fatigue strength, minimal weight, and excellent anti-corrosion properties.

Spoke holes are drilled at an angle to match the natural spoke path between a rim and hub. Eliminates binding and lateral loading of the nipples to increase wheel durability.

Rim ends are hydraulically pressed over an extruded aluminum insert that matches the inner cavity of the rim and is further reinforced by industrial epoxy.

Sloped rim valley allows the bead of the tire to easily and smoothly move into place during installation and inflation.

Installed between the rim and tubeless tape to prevent tape from sagging at each spoke hole and make tire inflation easier while also preventing puncture from a broken spoke.

Great Rims

I've built my wheelset using these rims, combined with a Mavic Classic front hub and an Energy Bike Design RH628 rear hub, paired with DT Swiss Competition spokes on DT brass nipples. After a year of testing, I can confidently say that these rims are a lightweight, strong, and excellent choice.

As for my second wheelset, the Mavic Allroad SL UST 28, it weighs 1590 grams. The result I achieved with my custom build is approximately 1650 grams.

Very soft and easy to bend

I built a tough gravel wheel set out of this rims and classic DT Swiss 350 hubs. The rims were quite difficult to keep the pressure for tubeless tires, for whatever reason. Tried few sets of tires and was never happy. The biggest flaw is however how soft the rims are. The wheels frequently require truing because of that, even for modest gravel riding.

2 spoke broken at the j bend with under 2 hunder miles of pavement riding. These came on my New warroad. Would not have been my choice for a wheel set. Would not recommend .
